Free tool · the real state of the production Peppol network
Peppol company lookup by VAT ID or tax ID
Enter a VAT ID (e.g. SK2121358349) or a tax ID (DIČ) and find out immediately whether the company is ready to receive electronic invoices, i.e. whether it meets the obligation that applies from 1 January 2027. You can check your own company as well as your business partners.
For accountants and larger companies
Batch check of a list of tax IDs
Paste the list of tax IDs or VAT IDs of your clients or suppliers (one per line, or a CSV) and you will get a table showing who is already in the Peppol network, through which provider and since when. We answer from the morning sweep of the whole network, not with a live query, so the result is as of the sweep date. At most 200 identifiers per batch.
The list is processed only for this answer and is not stored anywhere. The single check with a live network query is higher up on the page; an overview of the whole network is at /en/statistiky.

How the Peppol lookup works
The Peppol network has no single public list of companies. Its “phone book” consists of two technical registers: the SML (Service Metadata Locator, the DNS zone of the network) and the SMP (Service Metadata Publisher, where the capabilities of every recipient are published). Our Peppol lookup performs exactly the same query every access point performs just before delivering an invoice: it derives the Peppol ID from the VAT ID (scheme 0245 for Slovak tax IDs), finds it in the SML and reads from the SMP which documents the entity receives.
The result is therefore the real state of the production network at the moment of the check, not a copy of a database or an estimate. For every entity we also show the date and time when its state in the network was last actually verified.
From 1 January 2027 Slovak companies (taxable persons, i.e. limited companies as well as sole traders, including non-payers of VAT) must be able to receive an electronic invoice for domestic B2B transactions via the Peppol network; VAT payers must also issue them. A company the lookup does not find does not yet meet this obligation. Registering with us is free and takes a few minutes via the Financial Administration portal.
Frequently asked questions about the Peppol lookup
- What does it mean that a company "is in the Peppol network"?
- The company has its VAT ID (tax ID) registered in the central Slovak SMP register and published in the Peppol network (SML). From that moment anyone in the world can deliver an electronic invoice to it. From 1 January 2027 everyone to whom a VAT payer supplies goods or services in Slovakia must be reachable this way: every taxable person, including non-payers of VAT, and domestic legal persons (§ 71(5) of the VAT Act). VAT payers must issue e-invoices for domestic supplies (§ 85o(2)).
- How does the lookup work?
- We perform exactly the same lookup every Peppol access point performs before delivering an invoice: a query to the SML (the DNS zone of the Peppol network) followed by a query to the SMP register, where the capabilities of the recipient are published (invoice, credit note, self-billing, MLS delivery receipts). The result is therefore the real state of the production network at the moment of the check.
- Who is affected by the obligation from 1 January 2027?
- The law distinguishes two obligations (§ 85o of the VAT Act as amended by Act No. 385/2025 Coll.). From 1 January 2027 VAT payers must issue e-invoices via Peppol for domestic B2B transactions. Every taxable person established in Slovakia, i.e. limited companies as well as sole traders, including non-payers of VAT and regardless of company size, must be able to receive an e-invoice; invoice data is also reported to the Financial Administration.
- The company is not in the network. What now?
- Simply select a certified provider (a "digital postman", the Slovak term for an e-invoicing provider). With us it is free and takes a few minutes: you click the selection on the Financial Administration portal, log in with eID or with your Financial Administration portal credentials, and we register the company in the Peppol network automatically. Receiving e-invoices is free if you switch the Data archive off in the company details; with the archive (on by default for new companies) it costs €2 excl. VAT per month per company ID (IČO) from 1 January 2027.
- Is the lookup free and available without registration?
- Yes, the lookup is completely free, requires no registration and has no limits for normal use. You can check your own company as well as your business partners or suppliers.
- Is a Peppol lookup the same as validating a VAT ID in VIES?
- No. VIES checks whether a VAT ID is valid for VAT purposes in the EU. The Peppol lookup answers a different question: whether the company has its VAT ID registered in the Peppol network, in other words whether an e-invoice can be delivered to it electronically. A company can have a valid VAT ID in VIES and still be absent from the Peppol network, and from 1 January 2027 that will no longer be enough.
- What is a Peppol ID (participant identifier)?
- A Peppol ID is the address of a company in the Peppol network. Slovak entities use scheme 0245 (SK:DIC). The identifier is the tax ID (DIČ), for example 0245:2121358349. E-invoices are routed to this ID; our Peppol lookup derives it from the VAT ID automatically.
- How do I find out whether my supplier or customer receives e-invoices?
- Enter their VAT ID into the lookup above. If they are in the network, you will also see the list of documents they receive (invoice, credit note, self-billing, MLS delivery receipts). The lookup is free and you can repeat it for any number of entities.
