Data archive

The most secure data are the data
that do not exist.

Do not want us to keep the content of your documents? Switch the Data archive off in the company detail. We deliver the invoice, meet the statutory obligations and then its content ceases to exist on our side: we automatically and irreversibly delete the readable copies, usually 14 days after delivery (you set the period from 1 to 90 days). Receiving is free in this mode. What we do not keep, nobody can steal, request or misuse.

We are the only Slovak digital postman offering a mode in which we do not store the content of your documents long term.* The Data archive is on by default for new companies: we keep the originals of received and issued invoices in the EU for as long as you are with us (1 GB included). The service with the archive costs €2 excl. VAT a month per company; you choose the mode with a single switch.

Three layers of protection

1 · Encrypted transfer

Every document travels through the Peppol network encrypted (TLS) and with the cryptographic signatures of OpenPeppol PKI certificates. Nobody can read or alter it on the way.

2 · Minimum data

We process only what delivery and the law require. No profiling, no selling of data, sub-processors exclusively in the EU under the regime described at /gdpr.

3 · Automatic deletion

With the Data archive switched off (maximum encryption mode) we irreversibly delete document content after the chosen period (14 days by default, configurable from 1 to 90 days). Only operational metadata and the delivery receipt as proof remain.

How the mode without the archive works

  1. 1

    Delivery

The invoice arrives over the live Peppol network, we validate it and deliver it to you immediately: by e-mail with the PDF and the original XML, by webhook or via the API.

  2. 2

    Statutory obligations

We meet everything the law requires of a digital postman, including reporting the tax data to the Financial Administration once the state interface is open.

  3. 3

    14-day window

You have the document in the portal to download and check. The delivery receipt (proof of delivery) remains permanently.

  4. 4

    Irreversible deletion

After 14 days we automatically delete the content of the document. From that moment neither we, our employees nor any third party can read it.

Full transparency: what the mode means

  • You take care of archiving. The VAT Act (§ 76) requires invoices to be retained for 10 years. With the Data archive switched off you take over this obligation: you receive the originals on delivery and can download them during the chosen period (14 days by default). We point this out directly at the switch and in the terms and conditions.
  • Tax data go to the state by law. Reporting to the Financial Administration is the essence of the Slovak e-invoicing system and applies to every provider. Our commitment is this: after deletion, neither we nor anyone at our company can read the content.
  • The choice is yours. New companies have the Data archive on by default (€2 excl. VAT a month per company, originals in the EU, 1 GB included). If you do not want us to keep document content, you switch the archive off with a single switch: receiving is then free and we delete the copies 14 days after delivery.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly does the maximum encryption mode do?

The maximum encryption mode means the Data archive is switched off. We deliver the invoice normally over the Peppol network, meet the statutory obligations and deliver it to you by e-mail, webhook or via the API. We then automatically and irreversibly delete the readable copy (the original XML and the preview) after the chosen period following delivery (14 days by default, configurable from 1 to 90 days). We keep only basic operational data (document number, date, status, amounts for billing) and the delivery receipt as proof of delivery.

Why is it more secure?

Data that do not exist cannot be stolen, requested or misused. A data leak is the biggest risk of every cloud service; for the content of your invoices we remove it by simply not keeping the content once our job is done. In transit, documents are protected by TLS encryption and by the signatures of the Peppol network's PKI certificates.

Who archives the invoices then?

You do. The VAT Act (§ 76) requires invoices to be retained for 10 years and with the Data archive switched off this obligation is met by the customer: the originals reach you by e-mail or webhook on delivery and you can download them in the portal during the chosen period. We point this obligation out at the switch and in the terms and conditions, so that everything is 100 % transparent. The Financial Administration explicitly confirms that a delivery service provider has no statutory obligation to retain the XML invoices it has sent (e-invoice FAQ, 9/DPH/2025/IM), so the mode is fully compliant with the law.

What if I want you to store the documents?

Leave the Data archive on (it is the default for new companies) or switch it on in the company detail. We then keep the documents including the original XML securely in a data centre in the EU for as long as you work with us (1 GB included), and you have them available in the portal at any time. The service with the archive costs €2 excl. VAT a month per company and also includes sending. The choice is always yours and you can switch at any time.

Is the mode switched on automatically?

No. The Data archive is on by default for new companies: we keep the originals of received and issued invoices in the EU for as long as you are with us (1 GB included). If you only want to receive invoices for free, switch the archive off on the company detail page; document content is then deleted on our side 14 days after delivery and you keep the originals yourself. Companies added before 13 September 2026 keep their setting until the owner changes it.

Does anyone see my invoices during processing?

We have to process the invoice briefly in readable form: we validate it, deliver it and, once the state interface is open, report its tax data to the Financial Administration as required by law (this applies to every provider; it is the essence of the Slovak e-invoicing system). After the 14-day period the content ceases to exist on our side; the deletion propagates to the encrypted database backups through their automatic rotation, usually within 7 days. Copies created by delivery (your mailbox, your business partner's system) are outside our control, and that is exactly how it should be: they are yours.

How are operational records protected?

Operational logs are rotated continuously and we keep the security access journal for 365 days (without invoice content). Details on data processing are in the privacy policy at /gdpr and in the terms and conditions.

How much data can I archive when I switch the archive on?

1 GB of storage per company is included. A typical e-invoice is 10 to 100 kB, so 1 GB is enough for tens of thousands of documents and the vast majority of companies never come close to the limit. You see the usage in the company detail as a bar; at 80 % we write to you. Should the 1 GB fill up, the storage automatically grows by another 1 GB, which is billed like another company (€2 excl. VAT a month). The Data archive is on for new companies in both directions and is part of the €2 a month; you can switch it off for each direction separately (terms and conditions, clause 11a.5).

* According to the publicly available price lists and documentation of Slovak certified delivery service providers as of 16 August 2026. The terms of the mode are governed by the terms and conditions and the privacy policy.

Who is obliged to retain e-invoices, for how long and in what form (and why the postman does not do it for you) is explained in the article archiving e-invoices.
